•Monitoring patient variables – Here you will keep a watchful eye on how much the patient is eating, drinking and eliminating as these are all signs of a shift in health. You will watch their mood and attitude as well as this can be a huge sign as to how they are progressing or deteriorating.

•Patient rotation – If a patient is bed ridden for any length of time it’s quite possible that they will begin to develop bedsores and will need the pressure take off the areas that are problematic. There are special beds that will help aid the patient as well but much of this will fall to you in the longer bed ridden cases.

• Aiding in restroom care – Most bed ridden patients will need help in there restroom activities and you will also need to chart how much elimination took place so that the doctors can determine if addition courses must be taken.

• Hygiene – A huge part of your  Nursing assistant job description will be in the patient hygiene area. All patients need to be bathed, they will need to brush their teeth, they will need to comb their hair, clip their fingernails and so on.
